I can't say that I'm really sad that all the heat is going. Those crazy sizzling days where all you could do was lay very still and hope for a cool breeze to come from somewhere (we don't have an air conditioner at home).
I am sad for what the end of summer symbolises. The end of lazy days with little cares. The end of not learning anything and not feeling guilty. The end of beaches and well, summer.

But I have to face facts (and I hope the weather does too), February is coming to a close and taking the final bits of summer with it. So as a (hopeful) final summer goodbye I'm going to share my favourite summery dress.
I've always been a bit of a whoopie pie sceptic. A while back, when
they were 'making a comeback' I couldn't have cared less. I didn't see what was
a) so exciting and b) so impressive.
Then I had a whoopie pie flavoured ice-cream and it was gooood!

Well today I decided to put my bias aside and give making them a try.
Not exactly as easy as it looks...

Recently I may have spoken about spending more time exploring the vast expanse of country that
is my home and even more recently than that I may have mentioned the best going away treats which hopefully was clue enough
that I went on a mid-week mini break and it was delightful!
Credit to my fabulous friends for this one! |
As I think we all do, I compiled a list of everything one needs when
going away -camping in my case. I also, whilst away had time to reflect on the
thing I would have and should have done differently. That being the case I
thought I'd share them hopeful that it will help someone or at least be a point of
call for myself for next time!
The only type of date I can ever get...
Mum asked me to make her dessert. Safe to say that is the easiest chore I
have ever been asked to do! Mum's favourite dessert is sticky date and these
individual sticky date puddings with butterscotch sauce are the yummiest,
sweetest and stickiest little desserts ever! Not to mention that they are super
easy to make!
So I was really proud of myself, I had found a diary I liked (in the hope that I would stick with it all year) and had got into a regular habit, keeping it well updated. It took me a little longer to find a calendar but once I'd got that I took pleasure in keeping up with the date by crossing off the days as I completed them. Things were looking great! So, one morning, I decided to share the tips that I had taken on board to become more organised with my time.
Then in true spirit, to show my organisation I am sat on my couch watching movies and posting this blog late. *face palm*

Do you know what every good camping trip needs?
Apart from a really good packing list (but more on that another time) it needs some really scrumptious, home baked treats!
Top 10 reasons I fall short on the blogger scale...
Disclaimer: please don't take this too seriously. It's more of a joke than anything! But still all true!)
I was a pretty pathetic blogger for the entirety of December and MIA in January (although the time off was a well needed break).
During
that time I compiled a list of reasons I don't fit in the 'typical blogger'
status.
Out on
the internet there is a great number of beautifully made blogs. And I know that
while I am a fairly new blogger and that we're all different I have compiled a
short list of my greatest blogging fails.
Day trips through the country and road trips were a common occurrence of growing up in my family. I guess that comes with living in such an amazing country like Australia. A trip in one direction can get up to dusty country townships with their rustic treasures and a couple of hours in the other can have you in lush green rainforests or sandy coastal beaches.
My parents and grandparents took pleasure and pride in showing us the vast landscape that is our backyard. These are often some of the memories I hold dear.
We recently went on one of these adventures to the Rainforest Gallery, a tree top walk at the base of Mt. Donna Buang.
Nothing could ruin this picturesque landscape, right?

One month down and eleven to go! Actually, that's not true where did January go? I swear a week ago it was only the beginning and now..?
Happily though, the time has come, once again where the month has ended and I can reflect on all the things that I really enjoyed this month.
I feel that every month there are actually more items that I mean to share with you that made my month great but when the time comes I cannot actually remember.
Anyway! Here are January's 'remembered' favourites:
Welcome back!
If you're anything like me, school is back, the daily grind has
really set in and everyone seems to be asking you when Uni starts again
(basically I think they're all sick of me!)
Since it's been quite a while (and I promise I'll get to why
afterwards) I thought that for the first post back I'd tell you a little bit
about how this all started and I suppose really why.
Warning it's a wordy one, but I'm proud of it.
I'd never been one to read loads of blogs or watch a whole lot of
YouTube. Spending time on my computer was mainly reserved for pretending to
study and watching Sherlock. Two tasks that I could actually do unlike so much of
the technological world! (bit of a grandma over here!)
It's safe to say that when I leaped excitedly into blogging I fell
face first and not at all gracefully.
Still, I was a little proud of myself. It was one of the first spur of the moment ideas that I took the time to actually see through. I didn't over analyse, I just
dived in with no second thoughts.
Now, let's be honest, I'm still picking myself off the
metaphorical blogosphere’s floor, dusting myself off and learning the tricks
and etiquette to blogging gracefully.
